30th World Senior Chess Championship 2022 with chess legends as Gaprindashvili Nona, Nunn John D M and Vlastimil Jansa
We don’t need to introduce the Georgian GM Nona Gaprindashvili to a chess community. She was the first woman ever to be awarded the FIDE title Grandmaster (in 1978) and the fifth women’s world chess champion in the years 1962–1978.
But maybe not so many people know that there is a perfume called after her:) “Nona is a fragrance by Iberia named in honor of Nona Gaprindashvili, a Georgian chess player and the first woman to be awarded the FIDE title Grandmaster in 1978. The nose behind this fragrance is Liana Gakhokidze.” At the age of 81 is she not only fighting for another World Champion’s Title, but proving once again, that she’s a dangerous opponent that one needs to count with (currently at 3,5/4).
Another chess legend among female arbiters that is at the championship in Italy is IA (WGM) Veroci Zsuzsa from Hungary, supported by her female colleagues IA Olivo Ilaria (ITA) and IA Marta Motuzova (SVK).
