The ECU Commission for Women’s Chess is delighted to announce the return of the Excellence on Board Awards, a prestigious celebration of remarkable games and exceptional performances at the European Women’s Chess Championship 2025, set against the stunning backdrop of Rhodes, Greece.

These awards aim to highlight the strategic brilliance, tactical mastery, and unwavering determination exhibited by the participants throughout the championship. For the first time, the awards will span across four distinct categories, reflecting the rich diversity of talent and the depth of dedication within the European women’s chess community.

WOM ECU Performance Excellence Awards

  1. Junior U20 Award
    Celebrating rising stars – awarded to the highest-ranked player under the age of 20.

  2. Junior U16 Award
    Recognizing young brilliance – awarded to the highest-ranked player under the age of 16.

  3. Performance Up to 2000 Elo Rating
    Honoring exceptional play among participants with an Elo rating of 2000 or below.

  4. Performance Up to 2200 Elo Rating
    Recognizing strong performances among players rated up to 2200 Elo or below

With these awards, the ECU Commission for Women’s Chess continues its commitment to empowering female players, fostering excellence, and showcasing the inspirational stories emerging from the chessboard.
