3rd ECU Girls‘ and Women‘s Chess Weekend

The ECU Commission for Women’s Chess is organising the 3rd edition of the ECU Girls’ and Women’s Chess Weekend. The event will take place on the weekend 30.11. – 01.12.2024. The weekend will consist of tournaments, seminars and coaching sessions. All events are online and are open to all female members of ECU Federations. Participants can either join all events or attend individual events they are interested in. Please see the detailed timetable and the sign-up information below.

Seminar Schedule Sunday, 01.12.2024

11.00 CET: Chess history from a female perspective – and how to integrate it into your chess coaching (Germaine Kickert)

12.00 CET: Safer Play at chess tournaments (Emilia Castelao)

14.00 CET: Marketing womens chess (WIM Ayelen Martinez)

15.00 CET: Creating a welcoming chess club for girls/women (TBC): speakers the London Zoya Boozorgina (London Women Chess Club), “Creating a welcoming chess club for girls/women” exchange the TBC with Laura Schalkhäuser Zoya Boozorgina.

Coaching Schedule Sunday, 01.12.2024

16.00 CET: Advanced Coaching with IM/WGM Ekaterina Atalik (>1700 ELO)

17.00 CET: Intermediate Coaching with WGM Tereza Rodshtein (<1700 ELO)

Both coaching sessions will focus on the player’s experience of taking part in the 2024 Olympiad in Budapest, their highlights and game analysis. There will also be time for questions and first-hand insights on what it’s like to represent your country in an international tournament.

Time control: 3 min + 2 s This tournament offers the perfect opportunity for everyone who enjoys short time controls. Individual Rapid Tournament (Saturday, 30.11.2024. 14.00 CET) The tournament is open to all female players. Time control: 10 min + 5 s This tournament offers the perfect opportunity for younger players or beginners, who want to play games with slightly longer time controls. Battle of the Federations (Saturday, 30.11.2024, 19.00 CET) This will be a team battle, where each female player competes for their country. Each country can join the tournament with a female team. Seminars

There will be multiple seminars taking place on Sunday, 01.12.2024 over Zoom. You can find the exact schedule of seminars, and all speakers above. Coaching

Coaching sessions are open to all females and take place on zoom. There are sessions for two levels: intermediate (<1700) and advanced (>1700). Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis. Please sign up via email to womenecu@gmail.com
