Become a Certified Safe Play Ambassador: Advocate Training Session – October 13, 2024
Chess should be a safe and inclusive space for everyone. To advance this goal, the ECU Women’s Commission has partnered with the Women in Chess Foundation to offer a unique opportunity: free training to become a certified Safe Play Ambassador.
About the Advocate Training
After three successful sessions earlier this year, we are hosting a final advocate training on October 13, 2024. This online seminar is designed to empower participants with the skills needed to create safer chess environments. Topics include understanding trauma and misconduct, safety planning, crisis intervention, and more. You can more about the advocates initiative here.
Who Can Participate?
Federations are encouraged to nominate individuals passionate about fostering a safe chess community. However, a limited number of spots are also available for those who wish to apply independently. Participants must commit to completing the full-day seminar.
Why Get Involved?
The Advocates Initiative, led by the Women in Chess Foundation, aims to place trained advocates at chess tournaments across Europe. These advocates play a vital role in promoting respect, fair play, and support for players who may face harassment or discrimination.
How to Apply
Federations can nominate candidates by submitting names and email addresses by September 29, 2024. Independent applicants can also apply directly by sending an email to womenecu@gmail.com.
Don’t miss the chance to be part of this crucial initiative!
